Paradox of Time

A friend forwarded this to me and feel like worth sharing it. Take the time to read and realize how far have we gone through and usually ignoring the logic of life. Let's learn from this.

Paradox of Time

The paradox of our time in history is that
we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers,
wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.

We spend more, but have less,
we buy more, but enjoy less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families,
more conveniences, but less time.

We have more degrees but less sense,
more knowledge, but less judgment,
more experts, yet more problems,
more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much,
spend too recklessly,
laugh too little, drive too fast,
get too angry, stay up too late,
get up too tired, read too little,
watch TV too much and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions,
but reduced our values.

We talk too much,
love too seldom,
and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living,
but not a life.
We've added years to life,
not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.
We conquered outer space,
but not inner space.
We've done larger things,
but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air,
but polluted the soul.
We've conquered the atom,
but not our prejudice.
We write more,
but learn less.
We plan more,
but accomplish less.
We've learned to rush,
but not to wait.
We build more computers to hold more information,
to produce more copies than ever,
but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion,
big men and small character,
steep profits and shallow relationships.

These are the days of two incomes but more divorces,
fancier houses, but broken homes.

These are days of quick trips,
disposable diapers,
throwaway morality,
one night stands,
overweight bodies,
and pills that do everything
from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the showroom window
and nothing in the stockroom.

Remember,
say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe,
because that little person will soon grow up and leave your side.
AND MORE TO REMEMBER AS FOLLOWS:

Remember
to give a warm hug to the one next to you,
because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and
it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember
to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones,
but most of all mean it.
A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt
when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember
to hold hands and cherish the moment
for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love,
give time to speak!
And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away.

An Inconvenient Truth

Last night together with my friends Oscar and Nino, we’ve watched a documentary film titled “An Inconvenient Truth” presented by Vice President Al Gore; courtesy of a friend Oscar. It is an inconvenient truth to know that my source of living, petrochemical manufacturing company that uses fossil fuel as a raw material to where I am employed, is a major contributor to global warming. It is an inconvenient truth to know that all industries in the world are dependent in the products of the so-called petrochemical manufacturing industries. Another contributor to global warming is the degradation of forests; trees and plants do help us a lot by absorbing the carbon dioxide present in the atmosphere; by cutting trees and plants we deprive our environment of another way to balance the abundance of carbon dioxide that makes the environment warmer. The film discussed a lot more factors contributing to global warming and consequences to people’s behavior towards the environment ever since.

Apart from merely watching and enjoying the film, I have been moved by the message it conveys. The film is an eye opener of the real situation of the mother earth. It is a challenge to all of us, those who can read and will reach this blog note to rise above the challenge. An individual act, however small, can contribute a lot to reduce the increasing trend of risk. We can start small by conserving natural resources and energy. We can start small by reducing our use of electricity, we can start small by using the water effectively and efficiently. I don’t have to specify how, but I’m sure, each one of us knows what shall we do.

As the situation calls for it, WE SHALL RISE ABOVE THE CHALLENGE, like any happenings in the world that tested the strength of the people and recovers and rise from it. God bless us all!

Happy Natal Day Niño!

Today Oct. 5, another friend deserves a space in my blog. His name is Niño and celebrating his 28th birthday. Though we celebrated ahead of this date, to accommodate all invitees, in a get-together dinner and swimming at Ain-Nakheel Beach. Thanks Niño, I’m sure all your friends had fun as much as you do. As most people we encountered in our lives, Niño is no different from other persons I met along the way. When he arrived in our company about two years ago, we did not get along instantly but Oscar did, but I used to seeing him in the bus after office going home, sitting quietly and unperturbed.

Our moment to become friends had been given a chance to grow on the day that he’s transferred to the project I am working with. Being one of the seniors in the project, new comers used to asked me questions to familiarize themselves or whenever they encounter some instances that needs immediate actions. I certainly believed that I did so. Even when the duration of his stay in the project we both in ended, our communications continued together with some common friends. Last December 2007, we both spent our vacations back home and saw him how excited he was during preparations in buying gifts for his family and planning how he will spend the vacation.

Being a friend, I used to witness all the happenings in his life during sad/troubled and happy times. I saw him laughed, giggled and get emotional. I sometimes give him advices as I felt needed or sought, but most of the time I let him do the business in his own to learn along the way. There are moments/decisions in his life that I do not agree of but I just simply told him my disagreement and concern for him to be aware of and to know how to face or cheat the possible consequences.

Niño, I wish you the best of everything and be careful always. HAPPY-HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Eid Mubarak! Oscar

Recently my friend Oscar had created a blog and proudly shared the link with me. Though blogs had been existent years back, we are just contented to reading someone’s else input to a variety of topics “anything under the sun”. Well, I must admit that Oscar’s blog inspired me to create one for myself, thanks Oscar! Surprisingly huh! It’s because I’m not a type of person to open my private matters into the world, I’m still the same, I just decided to create this blog to satisfy myself and would update it whenever I want to and feel there’s a need to share.

This time I want to honor Oscar for being my friend and instilling some influences in me by sharing his healthy habits and seeing his way of life. Maybe, it’s because I started feeling the aging process that’s why I get to notice this habit like drinking green tea, and the use of vitamin C, E and Omega-3. We are getting sad every time we hears people we knew younger than us hospitalized due to stroke. That’s why he’s promoting drinking green tea whenever he will get the opportunity to do so; to his friends, officemates, and simply acquaintances, don’t get him wrong that he earns from this, he’s just happy to share this good way of life.

Most of our bonding moments happened either in my pad and/or most of the time in his Moroccan inspired bachelor’s pad with either only both of us or with some invited friends. This will always start from a sumptuous meal followed by movie viewing. He’s kind of a good cook, well not when he’s not inspired, but he’s a winner when it comes to presentation and giving it a very unique and delectable name. Enough for you to look forward what it look and taste like. Sometimes, we pass the hour by simply analyzing things around us, injecting funny antics, while listening to his wide selection of MP3 songs.

Another good trait of Oscar is his love of reading. He always has a desire to read and learn new things every time and especially during solitary times. It’s evident in the way he talks and shares his wit and knowledge. Name a subject and he has something to say. He loves giving advice to people, especially younger ones, as their learning opportunities for career growth or personal safety and security.

I have yet to mention a lot of things about him, right now, it’s simply my way of saying, THANK YOU & EID MUBARAK! Hope this friendship last with no boundaries.

Reminiscing High School Friends: Joselito & Jose

What a way to start my blog. My mood is quite nostalgic; it started when I able to come across the website about classmates.com and saw the names of Joselito and Jose logged in there. They are my friends back in high school. I just missed them. I sent them small greetings and hoping they will find out my message soon and hear from them.

Whenever I will think of them, I can still see their pictures as if they are in high school; young bright minds full of hope and enthusiasm.

Whatever path they may lead after 2 decades, being the type of person they are, I am sure they are enjoying their life to the fullest; being proud and productive citizen of our country.

Glad to hear it happen, when I meet them soon...
